The skillfulness and ingeniousness of the Moldovan hair stylists and makeup artists were appreciated outside the country. The national team of the Association of Hairdressers of Moldova won a number of prizes, including a silver medal, at the World Hairdressing Championship that was held in Milan late in September, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on Monday, the Association’s head Maria Popescu said these accomplishments are the result of team work. “It was rather difficult from financial viewpoint because all the costs are covered by the participants. But we showed that we can and have talent and are ingenious,” she stated. Moldova was represented by eight participants who competed in 11 categories. Silver was won in the Wedding Makeup and Hairdo category. Moldova also won the fourth and fifth positions in the Most Ingenious Hairdo category. Fourth place winner Roza Antipova said she shaped the hair of her model in the form of a ladybird that weighed at least 6 kg. Such a hairdo and the makeup cost more than €1 500 as there was added a lot of natural hair. “We asked the authorities and companies to sponsor us, but met with refusal. I like styling hair and have taken part in the World Champs for many years. I’m confident I will win a leading place next year,” she said. The World Hairdressing Championship in Milan brought together over 800 hairstylists and makeup artists. Italy and Japan won the first and second places respectively.
