Moldova's assistant coach confident his side will avoid last place

Alexandr Camaldinov, the assistant Moldova coach, says the national team will earn a few points in the remaining two encounters with Israel and Latvia and will avoid the last place in their World Cup qualifying group, Info-Prim Neo reports. The stand-in coach held a pre-match news conference on Wednesday, after manager Igor Dobrovolski refused, for the first time, to meet with the sports reporters. “The team prepares as usually. All 18 drafted players are fit. We are confident that if we play with maximum concentration we can achieve good results. Although we expect difficulties in both encounters, because both Israel and Latvia need points, I believe we'll do well and obtain some points. We have all the chances to outpoint Luxemburg in the group”, said Alexandr Camaldinov. Moldova were undefeated in the last five games. At the end of this year Dobrovolski's contract is due to expire, and some say it will not be prolonged, as the national team will pass to Dumitru Dumitriu of Romania. But the chief of the Moldovan Football Federation, Pavel Cebanu, dismissed the information as rumors. Moldova will meet Israel on October 10 in Tel-Aviv, at 21:00. The encounter with Latvia will be played on October 14 in Riga, at 21:00.
