Moldova’s top officials express condolences for Italy quake victims

President Nicolae Timofti, Speaker Andrian Candu, Prime Minister Pavel Filip and other officials today wrote in a book of condolences opened at the Embassy of Italy in Chisinau following the recent deadly earthquake in the Apennine Peninsula.

“I was deeply saddened to learn about what happened in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake on August 24, which caused loss of human lives, injured people and significant damages in the Italian Republic. On behalf of the Moldovan people and myself personally, let me express sincere condolences to the bereft families and the entire Italian nation, assuring them of our deepest sympathy”, wrote the President.

“Regretfully, we have to live through these difficult moments. My condolences to the entire Italian nation”, wrote Prime Minister Filip.

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit central Italy on Wednesday early morning, killing at least 268 people and injuring over 400 other.
