Moldova’s national Under-19 football team coach Vlad Goian has named the 19 footballers picked to play in the qualifiers for the 2009 European Championship, Info-Prim Neo reports. To the lineup fielded in the two friendlies against Switzerland earlier this month, Goian added Iskra’s midfielder Artur Ionita. Yet, surprisingly, he failed to include Zimbru’s Radu Catana, who despite being declared unfit for a long period ahead due to an injury, appeared on the pitch in the second half of the local derby against Dacia on Saturday. The qualification matches will take place in Chisinau and Orhei during October 2-7, in which Moldova will face Russia, Latvia and Italy.
