Moldova in the first half of this year was visited by 44,300 foreign tourists. Most of them were from Romania (21.7%). According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the number of tourists at collective accommodation facilities increased compared with the corresponding period last year, IPN reports.
Many tourists also came from Russia (10.8%), Ukraine (9.5%), Germany (6.3%), Turkey (5.6%), and Italy (5.1%).
The hotels lodged 56.5% of all the tourists, an increase of 2.3% on last year.
The occupation rate at the collective accommodation facilities was 28.9%, including at health rehabilitation facilities – 59.5%, hostels for visitors – 55.0%, summer camps for students – 33.8%, hotels and motels – 17.1%, tourist pensions and agropensions – 12.3%, tourist villas, vacation villages and other recreational facilities – 12.1%.
