MP requests explanations on Moldova Cup match fixing allegation
Liberal-Democrat MP Tudor Deliu is requesting Football Federation president Pavel Cebanu to provide explanations on whether there was any match fixing in one of Moldova Cup semifinals, as Cebanu alleged.
“After the Moldova Cup semifinal between Dacia and Milsami, Mr. Cebanu claimed that the match had been fixed to secure Milsami a place in the final. I asked him if that was and outburst of emotions or he had any evidence to support the allegation. I also requested a reaction from the Ministry of the Interior and the Anti-corruption Center, because this could be a case of corruption”, Tudor Deliu told Info-Prim Neo.
Tudor Deliu went on to add that he considered the outcome of the Moldova Cup final to be fixed as well. He referred in particular to the fact that the referee disallowed what appeared to be a perfectly valid goal scored by Rapid-Ghidighici, allowing Milsami to win the game on penalties. Subsequently, the referee was banned from football for two years.
“I think it's disastrous that the Moldovan football has become a market where matches are being sold like pickles”, said Deliu.
Earlier this month, Milsami pulled off an incredible 5-4 win over champions Dacia in the Moldova Cup semifinal phase. The subsequent victory in the final secured them a place in UEFA competitions.
Contacted Info-Prim Neo, Pavel Cebanu said he hasn't yet received the formal request from Deliu, but would comply as soon as it happened, providing an answer within 15 days as required by law. Pavel Cebanu refrained from revealing what he intended to write.
