The legislative body adopted in two readings a bill that provides for the transfer of a plot of 69.2 ha located in Stauceni commune of Chisinau municipality to the category of land intended for constructions. The first polyvalent hall in Moldova, called the Chisinau Arena, is to be built there, IPN reports.
Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, who is one of the bill authors, said the plot will no longer be farmland and will be transferred from the Center of Excellence in Winemaking and Winegrowing under the administration of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.
The Speaker noted that a polyvalent arena will enable the country to host large-scale international competitions, concerts and cultural events. The Chisinau Arena will provide training conditions in accordance with international standards, including for professional athletes, and will enable young people to realize their potential. This will also include recreational areas for children.
A polyvalent hall of such a kind, taking into account its infrastructure, will occupy an area of 10-15 ha. The authors suggested converting a larger area in view of enabling the developers to build additional infrastructure, such as hotels.
The Chisinau Arena will be built based on a public-private partnership and will have a seating capacity of 3,500 to 5,000. It will include a roofed swimming pool, tennis courts, spa and fitness areas. An international tender contest will be held soon to choose the company that will construct the arena.
