In Brussels, the Associated Trio said it clearly what the three member states expect of the Eastern Partnership Summit slated for December 15 and reaffirmed their commitments before the EU, IPN reports.

After the trilateral meeting of Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and her Georgian and Ukrainian counterparts Irakli Garibashvili and Denys Shmyhal, the press service of the Moldovan Government reported that the event reaffirmed the common wish of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine for a profound dialog between the European institutions and the associate partners before the EaP Summit.

For its part, the press service of the Georgian Government informed that the three countries – the Associated Trio states – wish to have access to the European single market and enhance sectoral cooperation with the EU. The Georgian PM noted that it is important for the Summit declaration to confirm support to Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and reflect the country’s European aspirations

After the trilateral meeting, the three Premiers had a meeting with the President of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen.

According to the Moldovan Government’s press service, the three officials reaffirmed the common messages so as to offer a new impetus to the political dialogue and sectoral and economic cooperation through the Joint Statement of the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit. The meeting centered on practical aspects of the implementation of the EU’s Economic and Investment Plan for the Eastern Partnership.

“We are here to discuss the way in which the political will and the determination of the three associated partners can be used to improve the lives of our citizens by bringing our countries closer to the EU. We want efficient cooperation, primarily in areas that matter the most for the people. We refer to the elimination of roaming charges with the EU, reduction of costs of international banking transactions, recognition of vaccine certificates and strengthening of energy security,” stated Premier Gavrilița.

The officials also discussed the energy security, connectivity and cooperation in transport and the aligning with the objectives of the European Green Deal. The Moldovan Premier thanked the EU for its openness and support during the energy crisis and for the assistance offered in implementing the ambitious reform agenda of the Government.
