The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry has officially launched the national brand “Wine of Moldova”. The event involved winemakers, ambassadors and politicians. In the first quarter of 2014, there will be carried out a national campaign to promote the brand, IPN reports.
Minister of Agriculture Vasile Bumacov said the brand is launched because the quality of wines reached the highest level, but the wines need to be promoted. “We designed a country brand to promote our wines under the name of the country and to increase thus the potential of penetrating new markets and of using the opportunity offered by the European Union. We had many opinions about how this logo should look, but wanted to preserve the legend of the stork that has been promoted for 60 years,” he stated.
The new brand is designed for the wines of a high quality. The process of assigning the brand will be managed by the National Office of Vine and Wine. The wine promotion program includes a series of strategic initiatives, a legal framework for quality control, a single marketing framework and single visual identity. The wines with protected geographical indications and designation of origin will be automatically included in the “Wine of Moldova” program.
National Office of Vine and Wine executive director Dumitru Munteanu said the implementation of the program “Wine of Moldova” will enable to increase the export of Moldovan wines to 200 million liters a year by 2020.
The brand “Wine of Moldova” will be insistently promoted both in the country and abroad. Its launch abroad will take place within the international wine exhibition “ProWine” in Germany next March. The brand’s logo represents a stork that keeps a grape in the form of Moldova in its beak.
The program “Wine of Moldova” was launched with the support of USAID CEED II Project.
