The Chamber of Trade and Industry and the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul” on January 28 signed an agreement of cooperation by which they launched the Local Business Agenda, IPN reports.

In November 2008, “Viitorul”, with the support of the Center for International Private Enterprise, launched the National Business Agenda, which is a platform of over 30 entrepreneurial associations and local subdivisions of the Chamber of Trade and Industry. “Its objective is to influence public authorities’ policies and practices aimed at developing the private sector in a move to create an attractive and equitable business environment. In this respect, the National Business Agenda annually formulates proposals for ministries and other authorities and monitors how these are implemented,” said “Viitorul” director Liubomir Chiriac.

“By extending the National Business Agenda at local level, using the 10 local subdivisions of the Chamber, we aim to contribute to developing businesses at local and regional levels, to make the voice of the local entrepreneurs heard by the competent central and local authorities and to simulate private initiative in rural areas,” stated the chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Industry Valeriu Lazar.

Within the workshop that followed the signing of the accord, representatives of the central and local public authorities and businessmen discussed the actions that must be taken to stimulate entrepreneurial activity. The goal is to contribute to the creation of a new economic model, based on the attraction of investments into production and the rise in exports, not on remittances.

The Local Business Agenda was launched within the 14th national exhibition “Made in Moldova” that is held at “Moldexpo” between January 28 and February 1. The exhibit involves over 250 economic entities from all the country’s districts, including Transnistria, business consultancy organizations, representatives of the baking and microfinance sector, and guests from abroad.
