National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development constituted

The Government set up the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development that will monitor the process of adjusting the national policies and including the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that was adopted at the UN Summit of December 25, 2015, IPN reports.

The objectives refer to eradication of poverty, cooperation in education and healthcare, realization of the human rights and achievement of gender equality, reformation of justice, environment protection and promotion of green energy.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip will head the Council, while Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac will serve as deputy chairman. The Council includes the UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova Dafina Gercheva, World Bank Country Manager for Moldova Alex Kremer, representatives of the business community, Academy of Sciences, education institutions and of national NGOs.
