National Culture Day to be celebrated in Moldova
The parliamentary group of the Liberal Democratic Party proposed instituting the National Culture Day on January 15, when poet Mihai Eminescu was born. The initiative was discussed and approved by the parliamentary commission on culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Liberal-Democrat MP Ghenadie Ciobanu, who is the author of the initiative, said that the World Culture Day is celebrated in Moldova on May 21. “It is absolutely normal to have two culture days – the national day and the world day. On the National Culture Day, it should be absolutely clear what our spirituality, entity and culture are and towards what values we tend,” said the lawmaker.
He added that the birthday of the great bard Mihai Eminescu was chosen for the National Culture Day because he is a national symbol.
The initiative will be submitted to Parliament for adoption.
