National Day of Culture to be marked on January 15
The Ministry of Culture will stage a series of activities on January 15, when the National Day of Culture will be celebrated in Moldova for the first time. On this occasion, a part of the artistic groups will travel to some of the country’s districts on January 14 and 16 to perform there, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on Friday, Minister of Culture Boris Focsa said that flowers will be laid at Mihai Eminescu’s bust in the central park of Chisinau on January 15, at 9.00. A meeting to launch the Year of Spiridon Vangheli will take place at the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” at 10.00, while at 12.00 there will be inaugurated the National Museum of Literature “Mihail Kogalniceanu” at the Writers Union.
An exhibition of contemporary art will be opened at the National Museum of Arts at 14.00, while at 15.00 there will be opened the week of Moldovan movies, with the film “Luceafarul”. The day will end with a concert at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac”.
About 250,000 lei was budgeted for organizing the activities.
Last April, the legislative body adopted a bill by which January 15 was declared the National Day of Culture.
