June 3 was declared a national day of mourning in Moldova in connection with the crash of a SMURD helicopter near Haragas village of Cantemir district, in which the four crew members were killed. A decree to this effect was signed by President Nicolae Timofti, IPN reports.
According to the presidential press service, the national flags will be flown at half-mast all over Moldova and at Moldova’s embassies and consulates abroad.
A moment’s silence will be observed at 12 noon to remember the victims of the June 2 helicopter crash. The public authorities, enterprises and organizations are recommended to give up staging recreational activities, while the mass media are recommended to take into account the specific features of this day in their work.
In the afternoon of June 2, a SMURD helicopter exploded in the air and crashed near a forest of Haragas. All those who were on board - the pilot, copilot, doctor and medical assistant – have died.
