National final for Eurovision 2009 to take place on February 14

The national final for Eurovision Song Contest 2009 will take place on February 14, starting at 20.00, in the quarters of Opera and Ballet Theater. The event will be televised, in which those 19 rivals will compete with 20 songs. The winner will represent Moldova in Moscow, Info-Prim Neo reports. The organizer of the event –“Teleradio Moldova” Company (TRM) -- announces in a communique that the show will be directly aired by public television stations Moldova 1, Moldova International and Radio Moldova. Screens will be set up in the Opera and Ballet Theater Square to enable the public, not be able to enter the concert hall, to watch the show live. The singer or the band which gets most of the points resulted from summing up the scores obtained following the intermediary classification of the jury’s vote, of the televoting and of the TRM Reference Board, will be assigned as winner of the national final. The jury will give points from 1 to 12 to each song of the contest. The same number of points can not be offered twice. Judging will be made so that the members of the jury will not know the partial or final results of the televoting or of the TRM reference board. After summing up the jury’s results, in the presence of a notary, an intermediary classification will be made, and the song ranked the first will get 12 points, the 2nd -10 points, the 3rd- 8 points, the 4th - 7 points, the 5th - 6 points, the 6th - 5 points, the 7th – 4 points, the 8th - 3 points, the 9th - 2 points, the 10th - 1 point. The result of the jury’s voting will not be made known to TV viewers or to the TRM reference board until the end of the regular time attached to televoting or to the judgment of the the TRM reference board. The results of voting will be legalized by a notary. The televoting will be done through the stationery phone network of Moldtelecom and the mobile networks Orange, Moldcell, Unite. The number of votes is not limited. The price of a vote is 8 lei. After the official start of televoting, a retrospective of all competing songs with displaying the corresponding telephone numbers will be made during the first 5 minutes. A classification according to the model made by the jury will be created at the end of televoting. The TRM reference board will have four members: editors of the radio/TV music broadcasts, producers, presenters, selected from TRM at a sitting of the Eurovision Organizational Committee. The procedure of TRM reference board's judging will be similar to the jury’s. After summing up the points of the intermediary classifications, the order of the equal-level songs is determined through an open vote of the common team, by raising hands: the jury + the TRM reference board. If equality will stay the same after this procedure, the final order is decided by the youngest member of the common team. On January 30, drawing lots for distributing the participant countries in different semifinals will take place. The first semifinal will take place in Moscow on May 12, and the second – on May 14. The final of the contest will unfold on May 16.
