National Hospital will have new operating rooms and intensive care units
The Ministry of Health is looking for a contractor to renovate the National Hospital. Work is set to begin this year and will require an initial amount of 21 million lei, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi, the modernization of the hospital will be done in several stages. In the first one, a new block, adjacent to the main one, will be built. It will have 16 operating rooms, several intensive care units and 65 beds. The central sterilization department will be placed here as well. Other stages include the renovation of the main block, buying modern equipment and training personnel.
The renovation should be finished by 2015. The money will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, in the amount of €9 million. A €3 million grant will be obtained through the Neighborhood Investment Facilities Program, and another €3 million will be offered by the World Bank. The Moldovan Government will contribute as well, but no official figures are yet known.
