National telecoms carrier denies Fiodor Ghelici’s accusations
SA Moldtelecom describes the accusations concerning the application of illegal schemes at the company, made by Fiodor Ghelici, as irresponsible and calumnious. In a communiqué, the institution says that it will consider suing Ghelici for slander and misleading of the public opinion and Moldovan authorities, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Moldtelecom proved that it reacts promptly when evidence is presented and punishes the employees who break the law, regardless of their position. We will act as promptly when somebody tries to damage the image of the national telecoms carrier’s employees who observe the law,” it is said in the communiqué.
SA Moldtelecom said that in order to optimize the use of money and the work, last December it was decided to select a company that will provide cleanup services. In such conditions, Moldtelecom was to save 3.6 million lei during three years. Under an agreement between Moldtelecom, the Federation of Communications Trade Unions and Terraimobil Ltd., the rights of the ancillary workers transferred to the company were to be respected. According to Moldtelecom, all the steps taken were in accordance with the law.
150 of the 180 cleaners accepted to be transferred to Terraimobil Ltd. and receive salaries by up to 30% higher. Thirty persons preferred to resign and were paid a lump sum of up to 25,000 lei per person.
Fiodor Ghelici, chairman of the Civil Society Congress, told a news conference on May 25 that this January, the administration of Moldtelecom told women of the auxiliary personnel to tender their resignations as they will be immediately employed at a cleanup company. Moldtelecom indicated a larger sum in the expenditure documents and the difference between the expenditure and the amounts paid to the employees doing the cleanup was divided between the administration of the telecoms carrier and that company.
