National Theater opens 2010-2011 season

The National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”opens the new season on September 17 with Dumitru Matcovschi's play “Lullaby for Grandparents”, directed by Sandu Cozub, the theater's media relations manager Veronica Soltan told Info-Prim Neo. “This year the National Theater opens the season with a premiere. The play “Lullaby for Grandparents” is in fact a co-production of the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” and Teatrul Nou din Soroca (“Soroca New Theater”), in the name of director Veneamin Apostol. Actors of both of the theaters perform in the play,” said Veronica Soltan. In the 2010-2011 season, the National Theater will have one more premiere. The play “I'm Afraid of the Black Sea” by Irina Nechit, directed by Vitalie Drucec, will be performed in the theater's small hall. The theater's administration is concerned about the low budget available this year. “The National Theater has as many expectations as during other seasons. We want to have many spectators. But this year's budget is rather small for a national stage. Therefore, we will not be able to put on many plays,” Veronica Soltan added. This year, the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” plans to stage a new production of the play “The Life Tree”, under the direction of Sandu Cozub. Earlier, this play was produced by Veneamin Apostol.
