National Volunteer Center to celebrate Good Deeds Day this year too

The National Volunteer Center will celebrate the world movement Good Deeds Day, which brings together people from over 108 countries, for the seventh time. Millions of people, thousands of organizers and companies from all over the word unite annually to volunteer and do good.

Irina Gheorghelaș, manager of the project in the Republic of Moldova, said that since 2016, over 7,300 volunteers have taken part in Good Deeds Day as part of 355 volunteering activities in 37 localities of the country.


The volunteering activities should respond to the needs of society and/or the community. For example, on this day volunteers can clean parks or plant trees, can offer assistance to animal shelters, can collect and distribute food parcels to persons in need, can stage educational activities for children from risk groups, can offer humanitarian and social assistance in connection with COVID-19 , said Irina Gheorghelaș.

Good Deeds Day is an international day of volunteering. This day of
community service was launched in 2007 in Israel by businesswoman and philanthropist, Shari Arison, through Ruach Tova, a Nonprofit organization that connects between people who want to volunteer and organizations in need of assistance. Approximately 7,000 people participated in Israel in 2007. A record of 23,000 projects were implemented by 3.9 million volunteers in 108 states in 2019.
