The Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), at the suggestion of the Bank’s Executive Board, approved the design concept of the commemorative coin dedicated to doctors, which was selected from people’s proposals, IPN reports.

The design projects were evaluated by a commission composed of experts of the NBM, the National Heraldry Commission, the Union of Fine Artists, the National Museum of History of Moldova, etc.

Opinions were also collected, in focus groups, from specialists in the field: National Public Health Agency; Institute of Emergency Medicine; National Clinical Hospital; “Saint Trinity” Municipal Hospital; Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices; National Medical Insurance Company; Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection; “Nicolae Testemiteanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, etc.

The selection commission received 25 concepts that met the criteria. Eight of them were presented for consultation to health specialists.

There was chosen the work signed by sculptor Veaceslav Jiglitski, a member of the Union of Fine Artists of the Republic of Moldova. The design project represents the image of two doctors on the background of the map of the Republic of Moldova, rendering the invaluable dedication of the medical workers in our country.

The design concepts came from people after the Executive Board of the NBM in summer decided to dedicate a coin to the health workers and invited the public to participate in the elaboration of the design. The basic criteria for selecting the concepts were the originality, creativity and coherence of the design elements so that these could be executed on the surface of the coin. Each participant was able to present only one concept, being obliged to respect copyright and related rights.
