NBM governor highlighted Moldova’s progress at G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro

The governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) Anca Dragu spoke about the progress and prospects of the Republic of Moldova at the Global Meeting of the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN), organized in the context of the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG). The event took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, IPN reports.

Anca Dragu participated in the SBFN Members’ Highlights panel, where she spoke about sustainable financing from the perspective of the National Bank of Moldova: the commitment to develop and implement a national framework in the field, aligned with good international and EU practices. She also shared the NBM’s experience in working out and developing, in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group (IFC), the sustainable finance roadmap.

“Our firm commitment to sustainable finance is reflected in the concrete steps we have taken in cooperation with international partners, leading financial institutions. This approach not only aligns the Republic of Moldova with the best global practices, but also contributes to strengthening a resilient economy, building a prosperous future for all the citizens,” the NBM governor said, being quoted in a press release.

The SBFN Global Meeting, now in its 8th edition, takes place during September 11-12, under the aegis of the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group, which aims to mobilize sustainable finance as a way to ensure global growth and stability and promote the transition to a greener, more resilient and inclusive economy.

The event in Rio de Janeiro brings together more than 40 sustainable finance leaders, central bank governors, including high-level representatives of the SFWG, members of the SBFN, experts of the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
