The National Bank of Moldova (NMB) for the first time will attend the Global Meeting of the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN) organized in the context of the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group. The event of global importance will take place during September 11-12 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, IPN reports.
The event brings together more than 40 sustainable finance leaders, central bank governors, including high-level representatives from the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG), SBFN members, experts from the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
“Governor Anca Dragu will represent the National Bank of Moldova at the event, thus marking a historic premiere for participation in this high-level international forum,” the institution said in a press release.
As the representative of an emerging country, the NBM governor will participate in the SBFN Members’ Highlights panel, where she will debate the topic of sustainable finance from the perspective of the National Bank of Moldova’s commitment to developing and implementing a national sustainable finance framework, aligned with international and EU best practices. At the same time, he will share the NBM’s experience in drafting and developing, in cooperation with IFC, the Sustainable Finance Roadmap.
On November 8, 2023, the National Bank of Moldova joined the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network, which is a voluntary community of financial sector regulators, central banks, ministries of finance, ministries of environment, and industry associations from emerging markets committed to advancing sustainable finance. According to the NBM, joining the SBFN will enable to align the financial system of the Republic of Moldova with national and global priorities in this field.
