If Russia continues to neglect the problems related to migration faced during the last few years, Moscow will find itself confronted by serious nationalism problems in at most a year, considers Russian politologist Mihail Deleaghin, director of the Institute for Globalization Problems. He made related statements during a video conference that involved Chisinau, Tbilisi, Kiev and Moscow, Info-Prim Neo reports. The conference was held with the support of Novosti Moldova Agency and centered on migration in the former Soviet area. The Russian politologist expressed a trenchant view on the migration policies promoted by the Kremlin. “Though millions of citizens of the former Soviet countries work in Russia at present, it can do well without them. Russia has its own workforce, but they are neglected, not paid and not trained,” Mihail Deleaghin said, adding that such a situation is convenient for the Russian employers as they employ persons who have no rights. In this connection, Deleaghin gave as example Belarus, which does not provide migrants because the state created sufficient workplaces for the population. Moldova's Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Sergiu Sainciuc said that unlike other CIS members, Moldova is source country for migrants and it treats this problem from a different angle. According to Sainciuc, the remittances show that 50% of the Moldovan migrants work in the EU, while 50% - in Russia and Ukraine. “The problem cannot be solved by imposing restrictions, but by legalizing the migration process or even better organizing it,” Sainciuc said. At the video conference, Moldova proposed creating an Electronic Labor Exchange to inform the citizens about the labor markets in the CIS countries. The participants agreed with the idea, saying such an exchange could become an instrument for managing migration.
