About 100 houses caved in, more than 200 homes were flooded and 400 persons were evacuated in Nemteni village of Hancesti district. “We cannot drink even a mug of water as we don't know how we will live further,” the secretary of Nemteni village council Valentina Dorotskaya said with tears in her eyes. She and her family remained without home and took refuge in the mayor's office. “I never imagined the water can head for the village at a speed of thousands of cubic meters per second. My grandparents told me it can happen, but I did not believe them. Now I saw with my own eyes,” Valentina Dorotskaya told Info-Prim Neo's reporter. She said she managed to take only clothes and other essential things out of the house. She let the fowls free, but a part of them drowned. Other people ran away and took nothing with them. Valentina Dorotskaya said the people are in despair and do not know what to do. Farming for most of the villagers is the main source of livelihood, but now there is floodwater everywhere.
