New arrests in case involving deputy minister of economy

Two more persons were arrested in the case that involves deputy minister of economy Valeriu Triboi. These include one of the functionary’s advisers and the director of the electricity supplying company “Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord”. According to press officer of the National Anticorruption Center Angela Starinski, the searches in the Government Building, including the Ministry of Economy’s offices, continued today, April 1, IPN reports.

As a result of searches performed on March 31, deputy minister Valeriu Triboi was arrested on charges of abuse of power and casing of considerable damage to the state budget. Also, anticorruption prosecutors took legal action against the employees of the State Guard and Protection Service who tried to prevent prosecutors and officers of the National Anticorruption Center from entering the Government Building, respectively the Ministry of Economy, during the March 31 operation.
