The Prosecutor General’s Office has said that a man aged 30 was arrested on suspicion of being the head of the criminal group identified last month. Five members of the group had been arrested for smuggling 100 kg of hashish through parcels brought from Spain to Chisinau, IPN reports.

According to a communique of the Prosecutor General’s Office, on March 2 the police arrested the suspected leader of the group, together with an accomplice of his. The two were hiding from the police in an apartment in Chisinau. The police searched the apartment and found and seized another 42 kg of hashish.

The two men were placed under arrest for 30 days. If they are found guilty of drug distribution, they will serve 7 to 15 years in jail.
