New collection of ECHR judgments on Moldova unveiled

The “Lawyers for Human Rights” Association has launched three new volumes containing decisions and judgments delivered by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in cases that concern Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. The volumes no.5-7 of the collection “Judgments and Decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on Moldovan Cases” were translated and published as part of the joint program between the European Commission and the Council of Europe on Increased Independence, Transparency and Efficiency of the Judiciary in Moldova, with the financial support of the Swedish Helsinki committee for Human Rights. These volumes represent a complete collection of the ECHR's decisions and judgments on Moldovan cases, issued in the period from 1 January 2007 to 30 June 2008, and are a follow-up to the first four volumes launched in January 2008. “The publication was designed, first of all, for the purpose of removing the linguistic barriers that might appear in interpreting the European Convention on Human Rights and in order to facilitate the access of the legal practitioners to the case law of this international court”, said Vladislav Gribincea, the chairman of the “Lawyers for Human Rights”. The books will be distributed among lawyers for free, while their electronic versions will be available on the Association's web page at www.lhr.md Launched in 2006, the Joint Program between the European Commission and Council of Europe on Increased Independence, Transparency and Efficiency of the Judiciary in Moldova aims to strengthen the judicial system in the country by promoting further reform.
