Drivers who hold the tractor-mechanic certificate issued by the State Inspectorate “Intehagro” will also need to have the license issued by the Public Services Agency for traveling with the tractor or other agricultural machines on public roads. The new requirements for driving agricultural vehicles were presented on Friday by Vasile Șarban, state secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, IPN reports.
In a press briefing, Vasile Șarban said that the certificate for driving the tractor and other agricultural machines is issued by the State Inspectorate for Technical Supervision “Intehagro”. It is a qualification document certifying the right to operate vehicles subject to registration only within technological processes, with a limited area of travel – agricultural land, building site, etc. But it is not enough for driving on public roads.
“The holder of this certificate, if this has a driving license for another category, such as A or B, goes to the Public Services Agency with the certificate from “Intehagro”. There, category H (tractor) is added to the license. If the person holds only the certificate from “Intehagro”, then the person must go to the PSA and take the theory test,” explained the secretary of state.
“To ensure safety on the roads, the persons driving all the types of vehicles need to be aware of the road safety rules. Modern agricultural tractors and machines, having great power and considerable dimensions, can cause serious accidents if they aren’t properly managed. Thus, traffic safety must be a priority for all,” stated Vasile Șarban.
