Twenty new minibuses, bought with the support of the Romanian Government, will be distributed to schools in the Republic of Moldova. At the handover event held on Friday in Chisinau, which involved the prime ministers of the two countries, the officials highlighted the importance of investments in the education system.
The minibuses were purchased with the €100 million non-reimbursable financial assistance offered by the Romanian Government. The entire batch includes 69 school minibuses and the first 40 were distributed in August this year, IPN reports.
“We thank the Government of Romania very much for this generous support – 69 buses to ensure the safe transportation of our children to educational institutions,” said Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun.
The Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu said that the education of children, their safe transportation to school, are a priority. “I am glad that the Republic of Moldova is connected to children’s problems. All children must have equal access to education,” stressed the Romanian.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean thanked his Romanian counterpart for the contribution made to improving the educational infrastructure. “This essential aid is part of a broad effort to ensure the access of every child to quality education in schools outfitted with modern equipment,” said the head of the Moldovan executive.
The minibuses will reach schools in Ungheni, Briceni, Soroca, Florești, Drochia, Ocnița, Căușeni and other districts of the country.
