New service for persons with disabilities to work from 2012
The Government decided to create a new social service called Mobile Team and the minimum quality standards for it, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said the Mobile Team is a specialized service that will provide social assistance to persons with disabilities at home and support to the specialists involved in the process of including beneficiaries.
The assistance will be divers, depending on the needs of the beneficiaries and the possibilities of the local public authorities. It will be determined individually, by using case management, and is an alternative to placing these persons in residential institutions. The mobile team will make sure that the beneficiaries take an active part in community life.
“I’m glad that we officially launch this service after it had been tested in the municipality of Balti and in Criuleni district,” said Valentina Buliga.
She also said that the service will be available in districts, but assistance will be also offered to disabled persons living in villages. The support offered by the mobile team will be monitored strictly. The members of the team will be paid salaries.
The assistance is organized according to the cost-efficiency principle and is cheaper than that provided by residential institutions. The assistance offered to a child of this group costs 25,000 lei a year in residential institutions, while that furnished by the mobile team will cost 7,400 lei, said the minister
The services provided by a mobile team are estimated to cost about 184,000 lei. The service will become available in all the country’s districts in 2012.
