New vehicle registration certificates starting December 1
Starting December 1, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications will issue new registration certificates for vehicle owners and new provisional certificates which are in accordance with European standards, under a decision approved during the Government's Wednesday meeting.
The registration certificate is a document that confirms the registration of the vehicle and allows the title owner its exploitation, including international circulation. The new registration certificate is represented by a plastic card of ID-1 format.
The provisional certificate (size 80x105mm) recognizes the vehicle's registration and allows the title owner its exploitation only within the country's borders. The provisional certificate will also be issued for the vehicles whose owners have rejected the identification number, due to religious reasons.
The vehicles that are to be exported from Moldova will also get provisional registration certificates, as well as transit registration plates.
Moldova started issuing new-type driver's licenses in December 2008. Old-type driver's licenses will remain valid until their expiration dates.
