Nine Eminescu manuscripts unveiled in Chisinau
Nine new manuscript notebooks by both Moldova's and Romania's greatest poet Mihai Eminescu have been added to the collection of the namesake Academic Center Eminescu, taking their total number to 19. The facsimile manuscripts have been brought from Bucharest and unveiled on Thursday, January 15, on the 159th anniversary of the nonpareil poet, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Academician Petru Soltan said the works can provide an insight into Eminescu's entire oeuvre, and reading them, one may discover Eminescu as a great thinker, philosopher, and even a greater poet. In these manuscripts Eminescu tired to express his thoughts from a mathematical perspective as well, and even ventured into demonstrating the fundamentals of arithmetics. He was also fond of political economics, being a “follower of Adam Smith”, according to Petru Soltan.
“Anyone who will hold these manuscripts in his hands will be able to understand and decode Eminescu”, said Elena Dabija, director of the Eminescu Center.
On-line versions of the notebooks are available on the Center's web-page.
