Nine vehicles, including four minibuses, were towed away by rescuers and firefighters yesterday and last night after these got stuck on snowy roads. The persons who were inside the vehicles are now out of danger, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergencies said the response teams worked on roads in Ungheni, Causeni and Orhei districts and in ATU Gagauzia. There are no blocked national roads and no disconnections from the power supply.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research said all the national education institutions work in a normal regime.
In Chisinau, the public transport runs according to the ordinary program. A number of 300 trolleybuses and 97 buses were on routes in the morning.
The Border Police said the hovercraft border crossing points Soroca-Tsekinovka and Cosauti-Iampoli remain closed owing to the ice bridges that formed on the Nistru. Travellers can use posts located in the vicinity, such as Otaci-Moghileov-Podolsk.
Weather forecasters issued a hydrological warning valid until March 3 in connection with the cold weather. Ice bridges will appear in rivers and ponds. During the next few days, daytime temperatures will oscillate between -7 and -13 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures between -15 and -20 degrees Celsius. On the weekend, it will grow slightly warmer.
