No conductors will work on public transport in Chisinau and Bălți

The public transport in the municipalities of Chisinau and Bălți as of March 25 will run without ticket collecting conductors. The authorities took such a decision in a move to limit the conductors’ contact with passengers, Prime Minister Ion Chicu announced after the March 24 meeting of the National Commission for Exceptional Situations, IPN reports.

The official said that since the public transport will run without conductors, the rides will be free. Police officers and carabineers will be present at public transport stations to make sure that there are only sitting passengers on buses and trolleybuses, as it was decided by the Commission.

Under the Commission’s decision, the conductors in the municipalities of Chisinau and Bălți will not work until April 10, 2020.

A state of emergency was instituted in Moldova until May 15. As many as 125 cases of infection with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Moldova so far.
