No glory for Moldova at European Athleticism Championships

Moldovan athletes failed to win any medals at the European Championships that ended on Sunday, July 1, in Helsinki, Finland, Info-Prim Neo reports. On the last tournament day, Moldovan was represented by two athletes. Zalina Marghiev occupied the 8th place in the hammer throw competition with a result of 67.92 meters, while Natalia Artac obtained the same place in discus throw with 58.64 meters. Earlier in the championships, Ion Luchianov finished 11th in the 3000m steeplechase. The other Moldovans Marina Marghiev (hammer throw), Alexandru Cuharenco (long jump) and Olesea Cojuhari (running, 400m) were eliminated in the preliminary stages. The next challenge for Moldova’s athletes is the London Olympics. Qualification was obtained by Ion Luchianov, Iaroslav Musinschi, Roman Prodius, Zalina Marghieva, Mariana Marghieva, Serghei Marghiev, Natalia Cerches, Natalia Artac, Elena Popescu and Olesea Cojuhari.
