The executive next year will provide 20 excellence scholarships of 2,500 lei each and 8 nominal scholarships of 2,000 lei each. The money will be allocated from the state budget, while the scholars were selected at a contest held in September.

There were submitted 38 applications. Priority was given to the applicants with articles published in international and national magazines, authors of invention patents and scientific-teaching textbooks and to diploma holders.

There are almost 1,400 persons studying for their doctorate in Moldova.
