The Nondiscrimination Coalition made a calk for tolerance. Representatives of the Coalition on May 18 picketed the Moldovan Metropolitan Church, urging the religious organizations to temper their aggression against the minorities, including the religious ones that are not Christian Orthodox, and to act in accordance with the law, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Coalition's secretary Iulia Marcinschi, the Nondiscrimination Coalition is concerned about the intolerance of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church and the Orthodox organizations of the registration of an Islamist organization with the Ministry of Justice. The public incitement to hatred and protests against the minorities create preconditions for violating the rights of the non-Orthodox Moldovan citizens and their marginalization, said the young woman. “In a democratic state, everyone has the right to free thinking, conviction and religion,” said Iulia Marcinschi, adding that the Muslims pray in mosques and hinder no one. The Nondiscrimination Coalition urges the state institutions to ensure the observance of the rights of all the people, regardless of their religion, and to deal with the discrimination and intolerance that can have unfavorable consequences. The Collation consists of 13 nongovernmental organizations. Another four organizations applied to be accepted as members. Among the member organizations are: the National Youth Council of Moldova, the Information Center GenderDoc-M, the Resource Center “Young and Free”, the Institute for Human Rights, the Resource Center for Human Rights, the International Civic Association “Hyde Park”, etc. The representatives of the Coalition protested in front of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church, while Orthodox organizations were protesting against the registration of the Islamic organization in the Great National Assembly Square.
