An increase of 17.8% in the number of infections with the novel coronavirus was recorded during the past seven weeks compared with a week ago. A total of 24,300 persons were confirmed with the virus since the start of the pandemic. The data were presented by the head of the National Public Health Agency in a new conference, IPN reports.
About 150,000 tests for CODIV-19 have been done by now. As many as 1,335 children and 211 pregnant women contracted the virus so far. Among healthcare workers, the number of those infected stands at 3,281.
A number of 771 persons confirmed with COVID-19 died. The average age of those who died was over 66. 99% suffered from at least one disease, primarily cardio-vascular diseases, diabetes, overweight and neurological diseases.
Support groups were created to ensure the psychological comfort of the hospitalized persons with COVID-19. “We are thoroughly examining all the cases of patients with mental problems that appear as a result of infection with COVID,” said Marina Golovaci, secretary of state in public health and primary medical assistance.
