The number of cases of flu in Moldova rose to almost 500. The Ministry of Health said 184 new cases of clinical seasonal flu were reported last week. The epidemic ceiling of acute respiratory infections was first exceeded at the start of last week, IPN reports.

The Ministry noted that the number of cases of acute respiratory infections increased last year and the epidemic ceiling remains exceeded, while the number of cases of infections reached 371 per 100,000 people.

Six cases of death were recorded so far this year. Two of the persons died last week. These were diagnosed with severe acute respiratory infections caused by the seasonal flu virus A(H1N1).

The State Public Health Surveillance Service has stepped up control over the disease prophylaxis and combating measures taken in nurseries, schools and universities and at medical facilities.
