The number of state border crossings in January –September this year was by 22.6% higher than in the corresponding period last year. Most of these involved persons coming from Romania, IPN reports.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 42% of the entries into Moldova were from Romania, 37% from Ukraine, 10% from Russia, 1.7% from Bulgaria, while 1.2% from Italy. The number of entries from Germany, Turkey, Israel and the United States was under 1%.
80% of those who entered Moldova did it by motor vehicles, 17% by airliners, while 2.1% by trains.
In the period, the Moldovans made 4.334,9 million trips abroad, up 13.6% on January-September last year.
The data about the state border crossings were collected through the Integrated Automated Information System of the Border Police Department of the Ministry of the Interior.
