The number of people who purchased individually health policy increased from 62,756 people to 95,282 people in 2023. The National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) presented to Parliament a report on the use of the mandatory health insurance funds for 2023, IPN reports.
CNAM director general Ion Dodon said in Parliament that the revenues amounted to about 14.5 billion lei last year, up 15.3% compared to 2022. The amount collected from insurance premiums in a fixed amount grew by 69.5 million lei, which is by 53.1% more than the previous year. “This is due to the increase in the number of people who bought health insurance individually, from 62,756 people to 95,282 people or by 32,526 more,” said the company’s director.
According to him, the expenditure last year was executed in the amount of over 13.7 billion lei, up 15.2% compared to the previous year. Most of the money from the mandatory health insurance funds (98.7%) was used to pay for medical and pharmaceutical services.
Ion Dodon referred to the most important services covered in 2023 from the given funds. As many as 758,000 people benefited from compensated medicines and medical devices, totaling over 930 million lei. Over 10 million visits to family doctors were made. About 556,000 cases were treated in inpatient care.
Over 7,000 cardiac surgeries, more than 9,000 cataract surgeries, over 500 musculoskeletal prosthetic surgeries, 150 transplant operations, 42,600 radiotherapy sessions, about 103,000 dialysis sessions, approximately 613,000 expensive highly specialized diagnostic examinations, such as computed tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance and angiography, were performed
Also, Ukrainian refugees in 2023 were provided with medical services totaling 23.6 million lei, which were covered with foreign funds.
Among the important achievements for the modernization of the health system is the designing of the automated information system “ePrescription for Compensated Medicines and Medical Devices”, which was launched on April 1, 2024.
