Number of persons entering Moldova is rising
In just one week the Moldovan border has been crossed by nearly half a million people, by 4.2% more than in the similar period last year, the Border Guards Service said in a press release.
During August 1-5, incoming traffic figures at the border started rising progressively due to migrant Moldovans returning home on vacation and foreigners visiting Moldova.
From the beginning of summer, the Border Guards and Customs Services authorized the passage of more than 3 million people and 675,000 vehicles.
The Moldo-Ukrainian border remains the most heavily crossed segment, with approximately 2 million crossings, with the most popular checkpoints on this segment being Otaci, Volcinet, Tudora and Palanca.
On the Moldo-Romanian border most crossings are registered at the checkpoints Leuseni, Sculeni, Giurgiulesti and Cahul.
