Icons, greetings, souvenirs, candles and other objects made by persons with disabilities were presented at a sale exhibition at the Chisinau-based Center “Artico” on December 3. The fair brought together dozens of visitors, IPN reports.
The exhibits were made by about 50 persons who are beneficiaries of the Alliance of Organizations for Persons with Disabilities and by students from nine residential institutions. “This event is aimed at promoting the capacities of the persons with disabilities. We lay emphasis on the social inclusion and employment of these persons,” said the Alliance’s coordinator Ala Fodor.
Acting director of the Center “Artico” Sergiu Scarlat said the mounting of the fair inside the Center became a tradition already. Every year the exhibition attracts an increasing number of visitors. “Seeing the created works, I cannot say that those who made them are persons with special needs. These parsons have special talents and they amaze us by what they do,” he stated.
Attending the event, Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Gheorghe Turcanu said that such events promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities. The authorities make everything possible to create as many social services for this category of people as possible. According to the Ministry’s data, in Moldova there are about 184,000 persons with disabilities, approximately 14,000 of whom are children.
On December 3 it is marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
