Octavian Yakimovski gets highest score in interview for PGO leadership

The deputy chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Octavian Yakimovski accumulated the highest score in the interview stage in the competition for the position of prosecutor general, IPN reports.

The interview stage was held on Thursday during the meeting of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP). The Council awarded 8.53 points to Octavian Yakimovski. Prosecutor Igor Demchuchin scored 8.19, current interim prosecutor general Ion Munteanu – 8.16, while lawyer Andrei Coca – 4.72 points.

SCP chairman Dumitru Obada said the information about candidate Octavian Yakimovski will be sent to the commission for the assessment of prosecutors for the external evaluation of his ethical and financial integrity.

The post of head of the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) fell vacant after Alexandru Stoianoglo was dismissed from office in September 2023.
