One day before opening, Romanian Cultural Institute has no premises in Chisinau

One day before its opening, the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau has no headquarters. “We want this to be a window of Romanian culture to Chisinau and a window for Moldovan artists to the Romanian cultural space”, Romanian Ambassador Marius Lazurca said during a press conference on Tuesday, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We really want to rise up to the expectations. It's the first cultural institute of an EU member in Chisinau”, Lazurca said. The Institute will organize conferences, concerts, debates, exhibitions, courses, crafts and music workshops, etc. The Institute has no headquarters yet. The ambassador said it was very important that, with the help of Moldovan experts, an appropriate building was found. “We're looking for a historical and prestigious edifice. We could restore it together and offer it to the city and its inhabitants, to an European capital such as Chisinau”, he mentioned. Petre Guran, head of the the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau, said the building on Iorga Street 24 was a very interesting one. This version was previously speculated by the press. “Nevertheless, we'd prefer a place where the intellectual and artistic investment would be more significant, where we'd have more work to do”, Petre Gurau said. The Institute's opening will take place Thursday, September 29, at the Organ Hall. Larisa Zubcu, director of the Organ Hall, has announced the event will be opened with the performance of Romanian Piano Trio. Besides, the program includes the most famous violin and piano masterpieces. The concert will begin at 7.30 PM.
