About 19,000 candidates or 68% of those admitted to the Baccalaureate session passed all the exams. Seven students got only grades of 10, while 278 have an average grade between 9 and 9.99. Most of the students got grades of 6 and 7. The data were presented by Minister of Education Maia Sandu in a press briefing on Friday.
“The Baccalaureate exams this year represented a significant effort aimed at ensuring the correct assessment of students’ knowledge and a first step towards improving quality standards in the education system of Moldova. I want to congratulate the students who learned responsibly,” said Maia Sandu. The Baccalaureate tests were worked out by the concerted effort of over 100 teachers. The papers were graded by more than 1,300 teachers.
The additional Baccalaureate session involved over 8,000 candidates. No student got 10. Most of them got 5.
About 9,000 students who didn’t pass the exams will be able to sit them against during the next three years.
In 2011 and 2012, the Baccalaureate exam passing rate was 92% and 88.3% respectively.
