More than 32% of the country's population want to live in the European Union, 24% choose Moldova, while 8% would prefer a renewed Soviet Union, says a survey conducted by the Center for Sociological Investigations and Marketing CBS-AXA in partnership with the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the authors of the survey, 62% of Moldova's population are generally in low spirits. About one third of the respondents said their financial situation was bad, while about 40% said it was normal. Most of those who are concerned about their welfare standards support the PCRM, while the optimists sympathize mainly with the Alliance for European Integration, Info-Prim Neo reports. The poll shows that the number of those who want to live in a member country of the Commonwealth of Independent States has decreased significantly – from 56% in 2008 to only 39% in 2009. The survey was carried out between November 2 and 11 and covered a sample of 1,090 persons. It has a margin of error of plus-minus 3%.
