Our Government is managed by a swindler, priest

His Holiness Marchel, archpriest of the Bishopric of Balti and Falesti, called upon the faithful persons to come to the Great Assembly of the Christians if the antidiscrimination bill is submitted to Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I ascertain with civil revolt and pain in my soul that our country, our Government is managed by a swindler and by a liar,” the priest said in a news conference. He said that Prime Minister Vlad Filat wants to suppress Moldova at all costs, probably in order to obtain European finds. According to his Holiness, on May 25 the Premier said before the members of the Holy Synod that he will take steps to remedy the situation as regards the antidiscrimination law and the registration of the Islamic League so as to restore things to their former state. As no term was announced, the Church officials decided to wait. Today’s reaction comes after they heard the Premier saying during a visit to Prague that they will submit the antidiscrimination bill to Parliament, urging his colleagues from the alliance to support it. His Holiness Marchel said the statements made by Vlad Filat in the Czech Republic run counter to the promises he made to Patriarch Kiril, who had visited Chisinau in October. The Premier assured him that he will not send the bill to Parliament and that no mosque will be built on Moldova’s territory, but the reality shows that the Prime Minister lied to Patriarch Kiril,” said the archpriest of the Bishopric of Balti and Falesti. “We would say that Europe presses us. But how did Poland, which is a Catholic country, resist the pressure, or Estonia and Greece? Why don’t our authorities resist the pressure in order to keep the Christian morality on the Christian land, which in fact represents the basis of our existence on this land.” The priest called on the Christians to protest and to pray for the authorities so that God enlightens their mind and hinders them from promoting this law. “I, as a member of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova and as a bishop of the Orthodox Church fighting for keeping the morality of the Moldovan people, urge all the faithful people to mobilize together with the friends, family and neighbors and come to the Great Assembly of the Christians that will be convened immediately after this law is submitted by the Government to Parliament,” said His Holiness Marchel. The bill on the combating and prevention of discrimination was approved by the executive on February 17.
