Over 100,000 Pfizer vaccine doses donated by U.S. thorough COVAX shipped to Chisinau

The Ministry of Health received a consignment of 100,620 Pfizer vaccine doses donated by the United States through the COVAX Facility. The doses will be kept in the storeroom of the National Public Health Agency and will be distributed proportionally to all the national vaccination centers, IPN reports, quoting a press release.

“The United States of America is devoted to the partnership with Moldova and contributes to the containing of the pandemic all over the world,” said change d’affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau Laura Hruby.

Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco called on the citizens to get vaccinated, saying that this is the safest shield against severe and extremely severe forms of COVID-19.

COVAX is co-led by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Gavi and the World Health Organization (WHO), alongside key delivery partner UNICEF. Moldova so far received over 2.8 million vaccine doses against COVID-19 and 917,000 of these were delivered through COVAX. More than 1 million people completed the vaccination series in Moldova to date.
