More than 167 million lei reached the state treasury in 2023 as a result of conviction sentences in cases in which the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) seized goods and money, IPN reports.

The amounts of money transferred to the state through sentences passed in 2023 mainly concerned smuggling, drug trafficking and human trafficking, with seizures ordered in 75 criminal cases.

According to PCCOCS, the amount of seizures increased considerably compared to the previous years. For example, in 2021 the amount was almost 10 million lei, while in 2022 – 5.6 million lei.
